Gibson Dunn Advises Advent International on the Acquisition of FNZ Bank
Frankfurt / London — Advent, a leading global private equity investor, together with a consortium that includes HarbourVest Partners (“HarbourVest”), has reached an agreement to acquire FNZ Bank from FNZ. Upon completion of the transaction, the investors plan to support FNZ Bank in its next phase of growth—through long-term investments in technology and operational capabilities, as well as by further enhancing the range of products and services offered to its partners.
Gibson Dunn advised funds managed by Advent International L.P. and the co-investors on the acquisition of FNZ Bank.
FNZ Bank is a leading independent provider of asset management, banking, and infrastructure services in Germany, with a focus on banking, custody, transaction processing, and regulatory services. It connects more than 50,000 financial advisors, 200 asset managers, and over 400 sales partners, and serves more than 2.1 million end customers with assets under custody totaling 155 billion euros.
Given Germany’s aging population and the widening gap in retirement savings, private retirement planning is becoming increasingly important. FNZ Bank provides the essential infrastructure that enables financial advisors and financial institutions to support households in building long-term wealth. Advent is convinced that these structural trends form a solid foundation for growth and will help FNZ Bank expand access to capital market investments throughout Germany.
Ranjan Sen, managing partner at Advent, said, “We are grateful for the trust that Blythe Masters, Group CEO of FNZ, and the entire FNZ team have placed in us in connection with the acquisition of FNZ Bank in Germany.”
