POELLATH Advises Gaius Capital on the First Closing of Succession Capital I
Berlin — Gaius Capital (“Gaius”), a private equity investor specializing in succession planning solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises, has announced the first closing of its debut fund, Gaius Nachfolgekapital I. With commitments totaling EUR 40 million, approximately 80% of the target hard cap has already been reached. At the same time, the co-investment vehicle Gaius Unternehmerkapital I has been closed. Investors include institutional investors and family offices from Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, including a French anchor investor focused on emerging managers.
Gaius is an independent private equity investor that invests in the micro- and small-cap segment in the DACH region and pursues a buy-and-build strategy in partnership with mid-sized entrepreneurs. The goal is to establish three succession platforms by the end of 2026 in high-growth service sectors. The first platform, in the insurance brokerage sector, was launched in December 2025. The founding partners—Jan Mickel, Joscha Radeck, and Dr. Lukas Klipper —have more than ten years of experience in building companies and developing succession solutions in partnership with business owners. —
With this first closing, Gaius is expanding its team in Berlin to closely support investments and the development of its portfolio companies. The approach is based on active collaboration with owners and management, as well as targeted value creation that goes beyond simply providing capital.
