Second fund of €100 million for Food & Agritech Fund Oyster Bay
Hamburg — Oyster Bay has closed its second fund with a volume of over EUR 100 million. YPOG provided comprehensive legal, tax and regulatory advice to Oyster Bay on the structuring of its second generation fund. The fund significantly exceeded its original target with a total volume of over EUR 100 million. Leading institutional investors as well as numerous entrepreneurs and companies from the national and international agri-food sector have invested in the fund.
Oyster Bay invests along the entire food value chain — in technologies, products and business models that drive the transformation of the global food system. The food sector is >the world’s largest industry, accounting for 10 percent of global economic output, 40 percent of all jobs and USD 10 trillion in sales. At the same time, less than eight percent of climate-related VC investments worldwide have so far gone into food and agri-tech. Oyster Bay specifically addresses this structural imbalance.
The new generation of funds has already invested in several high-growth food and agritech companies, including goodBytz (robotics solutions for professional kitchens), Nukoko (alternative cocoa production), Arda Biomaterials (upcycling of brewery grain residues) and seedalive (AI-supported rapid tests to determine seed germination capacity).
Oyster Bay’s first generation of funds — also advised by YPOG — invested in companies such as Air-Up, True Gum and Oatly at an early stage and, according to industry benchmarks, is among the most successful ten percent of its European peer group.
“The successful launch of the second generation fund underlines how strongly Oyster Bay is positioned in the European food and agritech ecosystem,” says Dr. Julian Albrecht, Partner at YPOG. “The team combines deep entrepreneurial know-how with a clear impact ambition. We are delighted to have supported the structuring and thus contribute to enabling innovative founders to actively drive change in the global food industry.”
