SOLUTIO: New Fund for Defense, Infrastructure, and Space
Grünwald near Munich / Zurich – SOLUTIO AG (“SOLUTIO”), with the support of Wilshire Advisors LLC (“Wilshire”), is preparing to launch a new fund aimed exclusively at institutional investors in Switzerland. The target volume is approximately 150 million euros. The fund is intended to provide access to a private markets segment that is expanding due to rising defense budgets, the protection of critical infrastructure, technological sovereignty, and security-related aerospace technologies.
Wilshire’s role will be to support the fund’s external Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) as an investment advisor. “Following the opening of our office in Zurich a little over a year ago, Switzerland is a natural market for this strategy,” says Robert Massing, CEO of SOLUTIO AG. “Institutional investors are increasingly focusing their investments on security, resilience, and technological sovereignty. At the same time, the range of investable funds has broadened in recent years. With this new product, we aim to select the most attractive investment opportunities for our clients.”
The fund is intended to invest in selected target funds and cover three key areas: defense and security, resilient infrastructure and technologies, and aerospace. The target volume is expected to be around 150 million euros. The planned geographic focus is Europe, including Israel; investments in North America are also planned.
The new fund is being developed as part of the strategic partnership between SOLUTIO and Wilshire. It combines SOLUTIO AG’s expertise in structuring and managing funds in the German-speaking institutional market with Wilshire’s global investment platform, research capabilities, and experience in due diligence processes and manager selection.
“The security and resilience market is young, fragmented, and dynamic,” says Todd Cassler, Chief Revenue Officer at Wilshire. “The growing number of specialized private equity and venture capital funds is opening up numerous new investment opportunities for institutional investors. At the same time, the demands on due diligence, fund selection, risk assessment, and portfolio construction are increasing.” The fund is to be structured as an institutional fund and managed by an external Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM). Wilshire will provide investment advice for the fund; however, investment decisions will remain solely with the AIFM.
