Mutares acquires “engineering thermoplastics” division from SABIC
Munich / Frankfurt a. M. — Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has advised Mutares SE & Co. KGaA on the acquisition of the engineering thermoplastics business in the Americas and Europe (the “ETP Business”) from SABIC. The ETP Business operates a broad-based international platform with approximately 2,900 full-time employees and eight production sites in the Americas and Europe. The product portfolio includes polycarbonates (PC), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) as well as resin and compound product lines, supported by globally recognized brands such as LEXAN™, CYCOLOY™, VALOX™ and CYCLOLAC™. The business generates sales of around USD 2.5 billion.
The ETP business is the world’s second largest producer of PC, the leading producer of ABS in the United States and the only producer of PBT in the United States — underscoring its strong competitive position in key engineering thermoplastics categories.
