Arteche Group Acquires SEG Electronics from AURELIUS
Munich — HEUKING advises Arteche Group on the acquisition of SEG Electronics GmbH from AURELIUS. A team led by Dr. Katharina Prasuhn, a partner in HEUKING’s Munich office, advised the Arteche Group on its acquisition of all shares in SEG Electronics GmbH from AURELIUS Private Equity Lower Midmarket.
Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Kempen (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany), SEG Electronics is an independent manufacturer of high-quality protective relays for applications in medium-voltage networks, with over 55 years of experience and an international presence in more than 80 countries. The company serves a customer base of over 350 clients, employs 80 people, and operates a centralized production facility in Germany, supplemented by sales and procurement locations in the United States, Poland, and the Middle East. SEG was acquired by AURELIUS in 2020 from NASDAQ-listed Woodward Inc. and has since been developed into a high-performing global specialist under AURELIUS’s ownership.
Arteche is a global leader in equipment, solutions, and services for the electric power industry, headquartered in Mungia, Spain. With the acquisition of SEG Electronics, Arteche is strengthening its offering in the field of transmission and distribution network automation and expanding its portfolio of electronics and automation solutions to include specialized medium-voltage protection relays.
The transaction is fully in line with Arteche’s 2024–2026 strategic plan, “Energizing Futures Together,” and, in particular, strengthens the Group’s automation pillar. The integration is expected to create technological synergies and expand the Group’s commercial reach in growth segments, particularly in the data center market, which requires a highly reliable and stable energy infrastructure. Furthermore, the transaction strengthens Arteche’s presence in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), a strategically important market given its significance in industry and the energy sector.
