Afinum Subsidiary MedTech Laser Group Acquires iMS

Munich — The Afinum-backed MedTech Laser Group (“MTL”) has agreed to acquire iMS GmbH (“iMS”), a Tutz­ing-based deve­lo­per, manu­fac­tu­rer, and distri­bu­tor of surgi­cal diode laser systems and single-use fiber consu­ma­bles for endo­ve­nous laser abla­tion (EVLA) and proc­to­lo­gi­cal procedures.

iMS was foun­ded in 2018 by Dr.-Ing. Michael Schu­bert and Tors­ten Kühnle and has deve­lo­ped its own laser plat­form (simLa), which is in use in 16 count­ries with more than 100 units instal­led. To date, more than 40,000 pati­ents have been trea­ted, and iMS has laun­ched the first diode laser with a wave­length of 1940 nm.

Looking ahead, iMS streng­thens MTL’s presence in the EVLA and proc­to­logy segments and supports the Group’s goal of estab­li­shing a leading inter­na­tio­nal plat­form in the field of specia­li­zed medi­cal laser tech­no­logy through conti­nuous orga­nic growth and further targe­ted acquisitions.
