NORD Holding and 1Q Health Group Acquire Gelpell AG
Munich –– McDermott Will & Schulte advised the funds advised by NORD Holding and their portfolio company, 1Q Health Group, on the acquisition of the Swiss company Gelpell AG.
Gelpell specializes in the development and contract manufacturing of soft gelatin capsules, hard capsules, and vegetarian capsules.
Headquartered in Switzerland, Gelpell offers services across the entire value chain—from product development and contract manufacturing to regulatory support and packaging solutions. The company also has specialized expertise in the field of its patented GELPELL Beads technology. — Gelpell AG develops and manufactures soft gelatin capsules (softgels), hard capsules, and vegetarian capsules on a contract basis. It offers a full range of services, from product development and regulatory support to packaging solutions and flexible batch sizes.
The 1Q Health Group is a leading European CDMO and development partner for premium pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements. With the acquisition of Gelpell AG, the Group is strengthening its presence in the DACH region and expanding its portfolio to include soft gelatin capsules. In addition, existing shareholders Kristina Edvinsson and Tomas Edvinsson, as well as CEO Thomas Jager, are taking an equity stake in 1Q Health Group.
NORD Holding is a private equity and asset management firm with approximately 4 billion euros in assets under management.
McDermott has been advising NORD Holding since the establishment of the 1Q Health Group and, among other things, assisted with the acquisition of ABJ alive GmbH and HKS health solutions—which were used to create the platform—as well as the subsequent add-on acquisitions of VivaCell Biotechnology GmbH, Beauty Production GmbH, EHF Production B.V., and now Gelpell AG.
