Siemens Energy Acquires Northern Irish Camlin Group
Munich – Baker McKenzie advised Siemens Energy on the agreement to acquire the Camlin Group, a Northern Ireland-based specialist in grid monitoring, data analysis, and plant digitalization.
The acquisition expands Siemens Energy’s digital grid portfolio against the backdrop of rising global investment in power grids. Financial details were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to the usual regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed before the end of 2026.
With the acquisition of the Camlin Group, Siemens Energy is expanding its capabilities and strengthening its digital profile in the areas of sensor-based monitoring, data analysis, and software-enabled grid intelligence.
Dr. Jakub Lorys, Corporate Partner, commented on the transaction: “The energy transition has long since ceased to be solely about generation; it is now very much about the intelligence of the grids. With the acquisition of the Camlin Group, Siemens Energy is well-positioned to navigate this transformation, combining sensor technology, data analysis, and software to create the digital backbone of tomorrow’s power grids. We are proud to have advised on a transaction that lies precisely at the intersection of industrial strategy and technological innovation.”
Alexander Gee, Corporate Partner, who led the transaction alongside Jakub Lorys, added: “The acquisition of a specialized technology company with operations in multiple jurisdictions requires not only deep industry expertise but also seamless coordination across various legal areas and national borders. Our team collaborated across more than 25 offices to provide integrated advice on M&A structuring, regulatory approvals, and labor and tax law issues, enabling Siemens Energy to act decisively and efficiently.”
The cross-border, interdisciplinary Baker McKenzie team was led by corporate and M&A partners Dr. Jakub Lorys (Munich) and Alexander Gee (London), with support from Niraj Visani (Senior Associate, London), Laura MacLachlan (senior associate, London), Jack McCann (associate, London), Eli Clinton-Davis (associate, London), and Niall Elliott (associate, London).
The Baker McKenzie team consisted of more than 50 attorneys specializing in employment law, tax law, antitrust and competition law, intellectual property, and commercial technology from more than 25 offices within the firm’s global network.
