McDermott advises Ardian on the acquisition of a majority stake in centrotherm
Frankfurt a. M./ Munich — McDermott Will & Schulte has advised the financial investor Ardian on the conclusion of an agreement with Solarpark Blautal GmbH on the acquisition of its 90 percent stake in centrotherm international AG, a leading provider for the design and production of systems for the manufacture of power semiconductors.
Ardian acquires a majority stake in centrotherm via Ardian Semiconductor, an innovative private equity platform specializing in investments in the European semiconductor industry. It was founded in an exclusive strategic partnership with Silian Partners, a team of recognized experts from the semiconductor industry. For Ardian Semiconductor, this latest investment marks the third transaction following the acquisition of IBS in October 2024 and Synergie Cad in January 2025, and the first transaction in Germany.
Solarpark Blautal reinvests part of its proceeds as part of the agreement, thereby remaining a significant shareholder of centrotherm.
Completion of the transaction is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals.
centrotherm specializes in the development, manufacture and sale of high-temperature process systems and has a long history as a supplier to both the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries.
ARDIAN is a leading global independent financial investor headquartered in Paris with more than 1,860 investors worldwide and approximately USD 192 billion in assets under management or advisement.
