Bird & Bird advises Milestone on the acquisition of Brighter AI
Munich — Milestone, a Copenhagen-based subsidiary of Canon and a leading global provider of video surveillance technology, is acquiring Berlin-based AI start-up Brighter AI.
Founded in 2017, Brighter AI uses artificial intelligence to anonymize video data in accordance with European data protection regulations. Existing cooperation partners include Volkswagen, Deutsche Bahn and the US chip manufacturer Nvidia.
With the acquisition of Brighter AI, Milestone is pursuing the clear goal of establishing itself as a European market leader for secure and privacy-compliant video data analysis. CEO Thomas Jensen is convinced that the market for data anonymization will continue to grow strongly. By leveraging Brighter AI’s technology, which is already used by well-known companies worldwide, Milestone aims to further strengthen and expand its position in the field of AI-powered video surveillance solutions.
With this transaction, Milestone underlines the increasingly influential role of artificial intelligence in Europe.
