Between 2004 and 2014, the number of CVCs grew from 180 to more than 1,000, with the stron\u00adgest growth between 2010 and 2014. This huge increase caused a lot of atten\u00adtion for and curio\u00adsity about CVCs in the VC and start-up scene. In the follo\u00adwing, we report on BASF Venture Capi\u00adtal\u2019s expe\u00adri\u00adence in this area, in parti\u00adcu\u00adlar on the role of a CVC as a link between two very diffe\u00adrent types of compa\u00adnies: the start-up and the large company.<\/strong><\/p>\n

BASF Group and BASF Venture Capi\u00adtal GmbH <\/strong><\/p>\n

BASF is the worl\u00add\u2019s leading chemi\u00adcal company, cele\u00adbra\u00adting its 150th anni\u00adver\u00adsary in 2015. BASF produ\u00adces a wide range of chemi\u00adcals and mate\u00adri\u00adals and is divi\u00added into five segments: Chemi\u00adcals<\/em> (e.g. petro\u00adche\u00admi\u00adcals, inter\u00adme\u00addia\u00adtes), Func\u00adtional Mate\u00adri\u00adals and Solu\u00adti\u00adons<\/em> (e.g. cata\u00adlysts, plas\u00adtics), Perfor\u00admance Products<\/em> (e.g. disper\u00adsi\u00adons, nutri\u00adtion), Agri\u00adcul\u00adtu\u00adral Solu\u00adti\u00adons<\/em> and Oil<\/em> & Gas<\/em>.
