The funding, which is part of the \u201cProduktives.NRW\u201d program, follows an initial commit\u00adment in Novem\u00adber 2024 and will speci\u00adfi\u00adcally finance the first expan\u00adsion stage of the indus\u00adtrial plant. The plant will process black mass (an inter\u00adme\u00addiate product from shred\u00added battery mate\u00adri\u00adals) to extract criti\u00adcal raw mate\u00adri\u00adals such as lithium, graphite, cobalt, nickel and manganese from lithium-ion batte\u00adries, ther\u00adeby streng\u00adthening Euro\u00adpe\u2019s geopo\u00adli\u00adti\u00adcal inde\u00adpen\u00addence in these stra\u00adte\u00adgic materials. <\/p>\n
Tech\u00adno\u00adlogy deli\u00advers supe\u00adrior recy\u00adcling rates With the rapid growth of e\u2011mobility \u2014 every fourth new vehicle sold world\u00adwide is alre\u00adady elec\u00adtric \u2014 Euro\u00adpe\u2019s demand for battery mate\u00adri\u00adals is also growing rapidly. The plant shows how modern recy\u00adcling tech\u00adno\u00adlogy is making Europe inde\u00adpen\u00addent of raw mate\u00adrial imports and at the same time streng\u00adthening secu\u00adrity of supply. <\/p>\n About cylib<\/strong> The water-based OLiC process effi\u00adci\u00adently reco\u00advers raw mate\u00adri\u00adals from battery modu\u00adles, black mass or produc\u00adtion scrap and achie\u00adves a recy\u00adcling effi\u00adci\u00adency of more than 90 percent for lithium, graphite, nickel, cobalt and manganese with an 80 percent redu\u00adced carbon foot\u00adprint compared to primary raw mate\u00adrial extra\u00adc\u00adtion \u2014 thus enab\u00adling a circu\u00adlar economy.
