The invest\u00adment increa\u00adses the valua\u00adtion of the TUM spin-off to over one billion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news-detail__teaser\">\n<p>Isar Aero\u00adspace, the space company that emer\u00adged from the Tech\u00adni\u00adcal Univer\u00adsity of Munich (TUM), has achie\u00adved a company valua\u00adtion of over one billion dollars and thus unicorn status. <strong>This brings the number of TUM Unicorns to 22<\/strong>. Isar Aero\u00adspace has deve\u00adlo\u00adped and built its own commer\u00adcial rocket tech\u00adno\u00adlogy and will trans\u00adport small and medium-sized satel\u00adli\u00adtes into space in the future. The foun\u00adding of the start-up by three gradua\u00adtes was inten\u00adsi\u00advely supported at&nbsp;TUM.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of new tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies require more and more satel\u00adli\u00adtes for data trans\u00admis\u00adsion \u2014 whether for commu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion networks, auto\u00adno\u00admous driving or digi\u00adtal agri\u00adcul\u00adture. To this end, compa\u00adnies want to launch entire swarms of satel\u00adli\u00adtes into space. These satel\u00adli\u00adtes are compa\u00adra\u00adtively small and are desi\u00adgned to move in low earth orbits. Isar Aero\u00adspace wants to exploit this econo\u00admic poten\u00adtial. The company, which recei\u00adved the TUM Presi\u00adden\u00adtial Entre\u00adpre\u00adneur\u00adship Award in 2023, comple\u00adted its first test flight with a 28-metre-high launch vehicle from the Norwe\u00adgian space\u00adport And\u00f8ya in March&nbsp;2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are meeting the growing global demand for satel\u00adlite laun\u00adches and provi\u00adding markets and govern\u00adments with inde\u00adpen\u00addent and flexi\u00adble access to space. This invest\u00adment confirms the strong confi\u00addence of global markets in our efforts to build a new leader in the space sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The capi\u00adtal is to flow into the expan\u00adsion of launch capa\u00adci\u00adties and the series produc\u00adtion of launch vehic\u00adles near Munich. The aim is to make Euro\u00adpe\u2019s access to space tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcally inde\u00adpen\u00addent and cost-effi\u00adci\u00adent. \u2011The entry of Eldridge Indus\u00adtries also marks a turning point in the finan\u00adcing stra\u00adtegy \u2014 Isar Aero\u00adspace had previously relied on Euro\u00adpean inves\u00adtors \u2014 and thus streng\u00adthens the company\u2019s inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal orientation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Isar Aero\u00adspace was foun\u00added in 2018 by <strong>Daniel Metz\u00adler, Josef Fleisch\u00admann <\/strong>and <strong>Markus Brandl<\/strong>. The startup deve\u00adlops and builds laun\u00adchers for small and medium-sized satel\u00adli\u00adtes and satel\u00adlite constel\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons.
