The Series A finan\u00adcing round was co-led by Cherry Ventures and Balder\u00adton Capi\u00adtal, with parti\u00adci\u00adpa\u00adtion from UVC Part\u00adners, the DeepT\u00adech &amp; Climate Fund (DTCF), Plural, Leit\u00admo\u00adtif, Lightspeed and Bayern Kapital.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Redal\u00adpine, which led the seed finan\u00adcing, as well as Club degli Inves\u00adti\u00adtori, Omnes Capi\u00adtal, Visio\u00adna\u00adries Tomor\u00adrow, Wilbe and Elaia Part\u00adners also parti\u00adci\u00adpa\u00adted in this&nbsp;round.<\/p>\n<p>Proxima Fusion now has a total of more than 185 million euros (200 million dollars) in public and private funding and can conti\u00adnue its mission to build the worl\u00add\u2019s first commer\u00adcial fusion power plant based on a stel\u00adla\u00adra\u00adtor design.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fran\u00adcesco Sciort\u00adino <\/strong>(photo \u00a9 Proxima),<strong> CEO and co-foun\u00adder of Proxima Fusion<\/strong>, said: \u201cThe merger marks a turning point: it allows us to replace the previous depen\u00addence on natu\u00adral resour\u00adces with a stron\u00adger focus on tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal leader\u00adship, opening up new growth and compe\u00adti\u00adtive poten\u00adtial. Proxima is perfectly posi\u00adtio\u00adned to capi\u00adta\u00adlize on this momen\u00adtum: We are brin\u00adging toge\u00adther a spec\u00adta\u00adcu\u00adlar engi\u00adnee\u00adring and manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adring team with world-leading rese\u00adarch faci\u00adli\u00adties to acce\u00adle\u00adrate the path to Euro\u00adpe\u2019s first fusion power plant in the next decade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shif\u00adting global energy dependence<br>\n<\/strong><br>\n Proxima was foun\u00added in early 2023 as a spin-out of the Max Planck Insti\u00adtute for Plasma Physics (IPP), with which it is working closely in a public-private part\u00adner\u00adship to lead Europe into a new era of clean energy. The EU and natio\u00adnal govern\u00adments, inclu\u00adding Germany, the UK, France and Italy, are incre\u00adasingly reco\u00adgni\u00adzing fusion as a stra\u00adte\u00adgic, timely tech\u00adno\u00adlogy that is essen\u00adtial for energy sove\u00adreig\u00adnty, indus\u00adtrial compe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adve\u00adness and carbon-neutral econo\u00admic growth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Proxima builds on Euro\u00adpe\u2019s long-stan\u00adding public invest\u00adment in fusion and rela\u00adted indus\u00adtrial supply chains. Proxima will also fina\u00adlize a site for Alpha, its demons\u00adtra\u00adtion stel\u00adla\u00adra\u00adtor, for which discus\u00adsions are alre\u00adady under\u00adway with seve\u00adral Euro\u00adpean govern\u00adments. Alpha is sche\u00addu\u00adled to be opera\u00adtio\u00adnal in 2031 and will demons\u00adtrate Q&gt;1 (net energy gain): An important step on the way to a first fusion power plant.
