The aim: to replace fossil resour\u00adces through the inno\u00adva\u00adtive recy\u00adcling of carbon from plas\u00adtic waste and CO2. The finan\u00adcing round is being led by UVC Part\u00adners. The capi\u00adtal increase is comple\u00admen\u00adted by High-Tech Gr\u00fcn\u00adder\u00adfonds (HTGF), Aurum Impact, Unter\u00adneh\u00admer\u00adTUM Funding for Inno\u00adva\u00adtors and busi\u00adness angels, inclu\u00adding Dr. Klaus Sch\u00e4\u00adfer, former CTO of Cove\u00ads\u00adtro, who will also be part of the Advi\u00adsory Board of Cyclize.<\/p>\n

Repla\u00adcing fossil resources
\n<\/strong>
\nThe chemi\u00adcal indus\u00adtry, once firmly ancho\u00adred in the use of fossil resour\u00adces, must change in order to achieve the neces\u00adsary climate targets. The carbon atoms contai\u00adned in natu\u00adral gas and coal are used to produce synthe\u00adsis gas \u2014 a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydro\u00adgen. This gas mixture is a basic buil\u00adding block of the chemi\u00adcal indus\u00adtry and the start\u00ading point for products that surround us ever\u00ady\u00adwhere, such as plas\u00adtics, foams, adhe\u00adsi\u00adves, paints and many more. Their produc\u00adtion and inci\u00adne\u00adra\u00adtion at the end of their life account for 15 percent of global indus\u00adtrial CO2 emis\u00adsi\u00adons. Other proces\u00adses, such as elec\u00adtro\u00adly\u00adsis or the use of carbon capture and storage (CCS), cannot meet the growing demand for CO2-neutral synthe\u00adsis gas.<\/p>\n

Cyclize offers a solu\u00adtion here: a highly inno\u00adva\u00adtive, plasma-based process in which mixed plas\u00adtic waste of all kinds is recy\u00adcled to produce synthe\u00adsis gas that easily compe\u00adtes econo\u00admic\u00adally with fossil synthe\u00adsis gas.
