The invest\u00adment, made from the Ardian Clean Energy Ever\u00adgreen Fund (ACEEF), is the fund\u2019s first invest\u00adment in the BESS asset class, which is expec\u00adted to grow from 11 GWh of instal\u00adled capa\u00adcity in Europe today to 75 GWh by 2030, accor\u00adding to Bloom\u00adberg New Energy Finance. The project is in line with the ACEEF stra\u00adtegy in Finland, which aims to acquire and bundle wind and solar energy plants to bene\u00adfit from econo\u00admies of scale and make better use of grid inter\u00adcon\u00adnec\u00adtion points through the deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of battery storage. This follows the acqui\u00adsi\u00adtion of two wind farms in Finland in 2023 with a total capa\u00adcity of more than 27 mega\u00adwatts. The battery storage project in Merta\u00adniemi is a joint venture between ACEEF and Lappe\u00aden\u00adr\u00adannan Ener\u00adgia, a Finnish muni\u00adci\u00adpal energy company. It envi\u00adsa\u00adges the deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of a 38.5 mega\u00adwatt energy storage system for one hour. The project is sche\u00addu\u00adled for comple\u00adtion in spring 2025 and is loca\u00adted near the Merta\u00adniemi power plant in Lappeenranta.<\/p>\n
