Wiesbaden\/Berlin \u2014 BMH Betei\u00adli\u00adgungs-Manage\u00adment\u00adge\u00adsell\u00adschaft Hessen mbH and Compa\u00adnisto GmbH have jointly inves\u00adted in Office for Micro Climate Culti\u00adva\u00adtion GmbH (OMC\u00b0C). The Frank\u00adfurt-based startup is deve\u00adlo\u00adping a flexi\u00adble and loca\u00adtion-inde\u00adpen\u00addent product system that uses free-stan\u00adding verti\u00adcal green spaces to improve climate resi\u00adli\u00adence and air quality in urban centers. OMC\u00b0C will use the new finan\u00adcial resour\u00adces to further deve\u00adlop its product and service, prepare for market entry and further expand its team.<\/p>\n
The company OMC\u00b0C was foun\u00added by Nicola Statt\u00admann and Carlotta Ludig at the end of 2021 with the aim of coun\u00adter\u00adac\u00adting the incre\u00adasing heating of urban centers on a large scale and in a timely manner. Their inno\u00adva\u00adtive \u201cClimate Farming System\u201d gree\u00adning system uses annual clim\u00adbing plants that grow more than seven meters in height each year on free-stan\u00adding modu\u00adles in a very short time. The resul\u00adting \u201cplant sails\u201d have a stan\u00addard size of 18 square meters and are capa\u00adble of cooling their surroun\u00addings by up to 2.5\u00b0C. Each module has six plant sails and gene\u00adra\u00adtes 270 cubic meters of fresh air per day with its total sail area of 108 square meters. In addi\u00adtion, one module can store around 0.5 tons of CO2 per year. The modu\u00adles, which can be comple\u00adted in series, consist of a light\u00adweight support struc\u00adture, substrate contai\u00adners, biode\u00adgra\u00adda\u00adble, hurri\u00adcane-proof tendril nets and an auto\u00adma\u00adted irri\u00adga\u00adtion system. They can be freely posi\u00adtio\u00adned and cast shade where it is needed. Unlike trees, the modu\u00adles do not require any earth space, as they are secu\u00adred above ground with compa\u00adra\u00adtively narrow screw foun\u00adda\u00adti\u00adons or precast foun\u00adda\u00adtion elements.<\/p>\n
The Climate Farming system is thus \u2014 in contrast to estab\u00adlished gree\u00adning solu\u00adti\u00adons, espe\u00adci\u00adally facade and roof gree\u00adning \u2014 almost infi\u00adni\u00adtely scalable and signi\u00adfi\u00adcantly more cost-effi\u00adci\u00adent.
