The finan\u00adcing is provi\u00added under the EU Bank\u2019s venture debt product, a type of venture capi\u00adtal for inno\u00adva\u00adtive compa\u00adnies. The loan is secu\u00adred by a guaran\u00adtee from the \u201cEuro\u00adpean Fund for Stra\u00adte\u00adgic Invest\u00adments\u201d (EFSI).  <strong>UVC Part\u00adners<\/strong> is provi\u00adding the remai\u00adning <strong>3 million euros<\/strong>. The <strong>VC fund of Unter\u00adneh\u00admer\u00adTUM<\/strong> was alre\u00adady invol\u00adved as lead inves\u00adtor in the last finan\u00adcing round of 6.5 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>FSI is a central compo\u00adnent of the Invest\u00adment Plan for Europe, better known as the \u201cJuncker Plan\u201d, in which the EIB and the Euro\u00adpean Commis\u00adsion work closely toge\u00adther as stra\u00adte\u00adgic part\u00adners to make Euro\u00adpe\u2019s economy more compe\u00adti\u00adtive. Munich-based Fazua GmbH will use the money to expand the company and for rese\u00adarch and deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment activities.<\/p>\n<p>The e\u2011bike market is growing. And that\u2019s what Fazua wants, too. With its detacha\u00adble drive system for e\u2011bikes, the Munich-based startup is alre\u00adady the market leader in some sectors such as bicy\u00adcle racing. In order to open up new markets and to expand its own product range, Fazua is able to raise growth finan\u00adcing of 15 million euros. In addi\u00adtion to legacy inves\u00adtor UVC Part\u00adners, the startup will also receive money from the Euro\u00adpean Fund EFSI, which is mana\u00adged by the Euro\u00adpean Invest\u00adment Bank (EIB). This fund, which totals 21 billion euros, is inten\u00added, among other things, to support compa\u00adnies in the start-up phase, growth and expan\u00adsion by provi\u00adding venture capital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consis\u00adtent and profi\u00adta\u00adble growth<\/strong><br>\nFabian Reuter, CEO of Fazua, is deligh\u00adted with the success.<\/p>\n<p>Foun\u00added in 2013, the young company manu\u00adfac\u00adtures extre\u00admely light\u00adweight eBike drive systems that are fitted with the motor and battery in the down tube of the bikes. With its drive systems aimed prima\u00adrily at sporty riders who want to expe\u00adri\u00adence optio\u00adnal assis\u00adtance, espe\u00adci\u00adally at special moments, Fazua closes the gap between conven\u00adtio\u00adnal eBike drives and conven\u00adtio\u00adnal non-moto\u00adri\u00adzed bikes.
