The new fund has comple\u00adted its first closing and is plan\u00adning to have its final closing in the first half of 2020. The fund is mana\u00adged by a group of seaso\u00adned venture capi\u00adta\u00adlists with over 75 years of cumu\u00adla\u00adtive expe\u00adri\u00adence on both sides of the table, part\u00adne\u00adring with the Switz\u00ader\u00adland based Crescendo Group, which mana\u00adges client assets in excess of USD 3 billi\u00adons of dollars from across its eight offices in Geneva, London, Guern\u00adsey, New York, Miami, Madrid, Hong Kong, Monte\u00advi\u00addeo and most recently Nassau. \u2014 Crescendo has a long track record of inves\u00adt\u00ading in as well as mana\u00adging attrac\u00adtive and unique private market invest\u00adment solu\u00adti\u00adons inclu\u00adding, but not limi\u00adted to venture capital.<\/p>\n<p>The fund will invest in early stage Israeli soft\u00adware start\u00adups in fields such as big data, AI and machine lear\u00adning with an empha\u00adsis on soft\u00adware that trans\u00adforms tradi\u00adtio\u00adnal sectors such as agri\u00adcul\u00adture, educa\u00adtion, cons\u00adtruc\u00adtion, health\u00adcare and indus\u00adtry. The Fund began opera\u00adti\u00adons during 2019 and has alre\u00adady made its first invest\u00adment when it led the A round of Light\u00adico, an Israeli startup that has deve\u00adlo\u00adped an auto\u00adma\u00adtion solu\u00adtion for the last mile of the custo\u00admer jour\u00adney in cont\u00adact centers.<\/p>\n<p>Crescendo Venture Part\u00adners is led by <strong>Zvi Schech\u00adter, Dr. Yuval Avni <\/strong>and<strong> Tal Mizrahi<\/strong>, form\u00aderly part\u00adners at Giza Venture Capi\u00adtal, toge\u00adther with <strong>Mark Kavel\u00ada\u00adars<\/strong>. Zvi Schech\u00adter is an early pioneer in Israel\u2019s venture capi\u00adtal indus\u00adtry and was the co-foun\u00adder of Giza Venture Capi\u00adtal in the 90s. Schech\u00adter led invest\u00adments in ground\u00adbrea\u00adking compa\u00adnies, inclu\u00adding compa\u00adnies which comple\u00adted successful exits, such as Tele\u00adgate, Cyota and Soluto. He also led invest\u00adments in growing compa\u00adnies, like WalkMe, one of Israel\u2019s fore\u00admost \u2018unicorn\u2019 start\u00adups, where Zvi was invol\u00adved since the company\u2019s incep\u00adtion. Dr. Yuval Avni served as a part\u00adner at Giza Venture Capi\u00adtal in Israel and in Giza\u2019s over\u00adseas funds. During 2015\u20132019 he mana\u00adged Beta-O2, a startup company he successfully led to a turn\u00adaround and to sustained growth. Prior to beco\u00adming an inves\u00adtor, Dr. Avni had been a surgeon and a graduate of the Tech\u00adnion Medi\u00adcal School. In recent years he has been a visi\u00adting lectu\u00adrer on entre\u00adpre\u00adneur\u00adship and fund\u00adrai\u00adsing at the Tech\u00adnion and Tel Aviv Univer\u00adsity. Tal Mizrahi also served as a part\u00adner in Giza and has over 20 years of expe\u00adri\u00adence in invest\u00adments, finance and the legal aspects of venture funds in Israel and abroad and high-tech compa\u00adnies. Prior to joining Giza, Tal served as VP Finance at PortAut\u00adho\u00adrity, which was acqui\u00adred by Websense for appro\u00adxi\u00adm\u00adately $100 million. Mark Kavel\u00ada\u00adars is a venture part\u00adner in the fund and brings with him over 20 years of mana\u00adge\u00adrial expe\u00adri\u00adence in tech, marke\u00adting and invest\u00adments. Kavel\u00ada\u00adars is a mana\u00adging part\u00adner and co-foun\u00adder, at Swan\u00adlaab Venture Factory, Spain, a \u20ac60 million venture capi\u00adtal fund inves\u00adt\u00ading in inno\u00adva\u00adtive Spanish companies.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Yuval Avni, mana\u00adging gene\u00adral part\u00adner at Crescendo Venture Part\u00adners, notes: \u201cDespite the huge poten\u00adtial of start\u00adups in early stages, there is a gap between the finan\u00adcing needs of these compa\u00adnies and the amounts inves\u00adtors actually invest in this stage.
