Single cells are used in the deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of modern drugs, so-called biophar\u00admaceu\u00adti\u00adcals, as well as in cancer and stem cell rese\u00adarch. Cyten\u00ada\u2019s family of single-cell prin\u00adters are labo\u00adra\u00adtory instru\u00adments for hand\u00adling and sort\u00ading single, vital cells. They repre\u00adsent an inno\u00adva\u00adtive tool for the life scien\u00adces and make a lasting contri\u00adbu\u00adtion to the deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment and acce\u00adle\u00adra\u00adtion of new therapies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal advan\u00adtage of the single-cell prin\u00adter over compe\u00adting products does not mean that we can rest on it. Our goal is rather to under\u00adstand and serve the needs of the custo\u00admer better and better. The new capi\u00adtal crea\u00adtes an important basis for this,\u201d says Cytena CFO Benja\u00admin Steimle. In addi\u00adtion, the invest\u00adment will help to capture further market share. Although the majo\u00adrity of the worl\u00add\u2019s ten largest phar\u00admaceu\u00adti\u00adcal compa\u00adnies are alre\u00adady custo\u00admers of the Frei\u00adburg-based start-up, there is still a very large global market poten\u00adtial waiting to be tapped.<\/p>\n<p>Important mile\u00adsto\u00adnes on this path so far have included the recently concluded sales coope\u00adra\u00adtion with an Ameri\u00adcan company and the expan\u00adsion of the product family to include the x.sight devices. \u201cThe current round of finan\u00adcing now puts us in a posi\u00adtion to acce\u00adle\u00adrate the next steps for Cyten\u00ada\u2019s success story,\u201d Steimle said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Lena Krzy\u00adzak, Invest\u00adment Mana\u00adger at HTGF: \u201cWith our Series A invest\u00adment, we want to build on the previous growth success of the seed funding. Spun off from the Frei\u00adburg Insti\u00adtute for Micro\u00adsys\u00adtems Engi\u00adnee\u00adring (IMTEK) in 2014, Cytena mainly sells solu\u00adti\u00adons for cell hand\u00adling. The Cytena team has deve\u00adlo\u00adped the paten\u00adted single-cell prin\u00adterTM tech\u00adno\u00adlogy, which allows the sepa\u00adra\u00adtion of cells in a docu\u00admen\u00adted, gentle and sterile process. The single-cell prin\u00adters have been manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adred in Germany and marke\u00adted world\u00adwide since 2015. In 2018, the tech\u00adno\u00adlogy was expan\u00added to include the x.sightTM range of devices. A large propor\u00adtion of the top ten phar\u00admaceu\u00adti\u00adcal compa\u00adnies use single-cell prin\u00adters to produce clonal cell lines for anti\u00adbody production.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About High-Tech Gr\u00fcnderfonds<\/strong><br>\nThe seed inves\u00adtor High-Tech Gr\u00fcn\u00adder\u00adfonds (HTGF) finan\u00adces tech\u00adno\u00adlogy start\u00adups with growth poten\u00adtial. With a total volume of 892.5 million euros distri\u00adbu\u00adted across three funds and an inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal part\u00adner network, HTGF has alre\u00adady supported more than 500 start\u00adups since 2005. His team of expe\u00adri\u00aden\u00adced invest\u00adment mana\u00adgers and startup experts supports the young compa\u00adnies with know-how, entre\u00adpre\u00adneu\u00adrial spirit and passion. The focus is on high-tech start-ups in the soft\u00adware, media and Inter\u00adnet sectors, as well as hard\u00adware, auto\u00adma\u00adtion, health\u00adcare, chemi\u00adcals and life scien\u00adces. More than EUR 2 billion in capi\u00adtal has been inves\u00adted in the HTGF port\u00adfo\u00adlio by exter\u00adnal inves\u00adtors in around 1,400 follow-on finan\u00adcing rounds to date.
