The first inves\u00adtor is Mobi\u00adliar, which is contri\u00adbu\u00adting CHF 100 million.<\/p>\n<p>The Finan\u00adcial Market Autho\u00adrity Finma appro\u00adved the fund at the end of Janu\u00adary. \u2014 This would allow the fund to be opened up to the <strong>target size of CHF 500 million<\/strong> over the next few months. The initia\u00adtors hope that insti\u00adtu\u00adtio\u00adnal inves\u00adtors such as pension funds, family offices and wealthy private indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adals will also invest in the&nbsp;fund.<br>\nThe fund aims to invest directly, but also via third-party funds, in inno\u00adva\u00adtive compa\u00adnies with growth poten\u00adtial. The majo\u00adrity of the invest\u00adments are to be made in compa\u00adnies that have their head\u00adquar\u00adters or a \u201csigni\u00adfi\u00adcant share of their value crea\u00adtion\u201d in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Invest\u00adment focus of the Allied Banks<\/strong><br>\nWhat is unique is that the two big banks were jointly invol\u00adved in an invest\u00adment vehicle, accor\u00adding to Swis\u00adsEF.  <strong>UBS<\/strong> contri\u00adbu\u00adtes its exper\u00adtise in venture capi\u00adtal and private equity funds. On the one hand, it invests in estab\u00adlished invest\u00adment mana\u00adgers, but also selec\u00adtively promo\u00adtes the forma\u00adtion of new private equity funds. <strong> Credit Suisse<\/strong>, on the other hand, will be respon\u00adsi\u00adble for direct invest\u00adments in start\u00adups and inno\u00adva\u00adtive&nbsp;SMEs.<br>\nThe target is for 50 to 66 percent of invest\u00adments to flow into Swiss compa\u00adnies, with invest\u00adments also to be made prima\u00adrily in compa\u00adnies from neigh\u00adbor\u00ading count\u00adries. Direct invest\u00adments are to amount to at least 20 percent of total invest\u00adments, and 65 to 80 percent of the funds will be inves\u00adted in third-party funds. The fund money is to be allo\u00adca\u00adted in a balan\u00adced way at diffe\u00adrent stages of deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment, i.e. in venture capi\u00adtal, in invest\u00adments in fast-growing compa\u00adnies and in small to medium-sized \u201cbuyouts\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Startup loca\u00adtion Switzerland<\/strong><br>\nThe Swiss Entre\u00adpre\u00adneurs Foun\u00adda\u00adtion, which is supported by the private and poli\u00adti\u00adcal sectors, was laun\u00adched in Decem\u00adber 2017 under the patro\u00adnage of then-Fede\u00adral Coun\u00adcilor Johann Schnei\u00adder-Ammann to address the \u201cchal\u00adlenges facing Switz\u00ader\u00adland as a loca\u00adtion for inno\u00adva\u00adtion and start\u00adups\u201d. The foun\u00adda\u00adtion, based in Bern, has been under the patro\u00adnage of Fede\u00adral Coun\u00adcil\u00adlor and head of the EAER Guy Parme\u00adlin since the begin\u00adning of 2019. Johann Schnei\u00adder-Ammann will remain asso\u00adcia\u00adted with Swis\u00adsEF as Hono\u00adrary President.<\/p>\n<p>The foun\u00adda\u00adti\u00adon\u2019s goal is for Switz\u00ader\u00adland to expand its \u201cleading posi\u00adtion as a loca\u00adtion for busi\u00adness and inno\u00adva\u00adtion\u201d and create new jobs. In doing so, it intends to take a two-pron\u00adged approach. In addi\u00adtion to the Swiss Entre\u00adpre\u00adneur Fund, which is now being presen\u00adted, it also imple\u00adments projects aimed at impro\u00adving the frame\u00adwork condi\u00adti\u00adons for entre\u00adpre\u00adneur\u00adship and inno\u00adva\u00adtive technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, he said, the foun\u00adda\u00adtion had alre\u00adady laun\u00adched two projects. The \u201cSwis\u00adsEF UpSca\u00adler\u201d program is inten\u00added to provide compa\u00adnies in the growth phase with a \u201ctailor-made support program\u201d. A team from a pool of 50 expe\u00adri\u00aden\u00adced \u201ctop entre\u00adpre\u00adneurs\u201d and experts assist such compa\u00adnies.
