Frank\u00adfurt am Main \u2014 Deut\u00adsche Betei\u00adli\u00adgungs AG (DBAG)<\/strong> is inves\u00adt\u00ading in Kraft & Bauer<\/strong> Holding GmbH (Kraft & Bauer), one of the leading suppli\u00aders of fire protec\u00adtion systems for machine tools. As part of a manage\u00adment buyout (MBO), DBAG Fund VII, which is advi\u00adsed by DBAG, will acquire a majo\u00adrity stake in Kraft & Bauer. Previous share\u00adhol\u00adders are the Swiss finan\u00adcial inves\u00adtor Invi\u00adsion<\/strong>, the foun\u00adding Bauer family<\/strong> and the current CEO Frank Foddi<\/strong>. DBAG will invest along\u00adside DBAG Fund VII and will in future hold a calcu\u00adla\u00adted stake of<\/strong> around 20 percent in Kraft & Bauer<\/strong>. The closing of the purchase agree\u00adment is sche\u00addu\u00adled for the coming quar\u00adter; the rele\u00advant anti\u00adtrust autho\u00adri\u00adties still have to approve the tran\u00adsac\u00adtion. The parties have agreed not to disc\u00adlose the purchase price.<\/p>\n

Kraft & Bauer is the fifth MBO of DBAG Fund VII since the start of the fund\u2019s invest\u00adment period in Decem\u00adber 2016. This means that around half of the invest\u00adment commit\u00adments have now been commit\u00adted. With a volume of just over one billion euros, DBAG Fund VII is the largest private equity fund initia\u00adted and advi\u00adsed by a German private equity firm. The current MBO is DBAG\u2019s seventh tran\u00adsac\u00adtion in the 2017\/2018 finan\u00adcial year, which ends in a few days (Septem\u00adber 30). These seven tran\u00adsac\u00adtions involve equity invest\u00adments by DBAG of around 67 million euros.<\/p>\n

Kraft & Bauer (www.kraft-bauer.com) deve\u00adlops, produ\u00adces and installs fire protec\u00adtion systems for around 800 diffe\u00adrent types of machine tools. The focus here is on micro\u00adpro\u00adces\u00adsor-control\u00adled extin\u00adgu\u00adis\u00adhing systems that detect a fire based on sensors and initiate the extin\u00adgu\u00adis\u00adhing process. The fire protec\u00adtion systems are either instal\u00adled directly on the machine by Kraft & Bauer employees or sold as a kit to the machine manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adrer. Kraft & Bauer employs around 80 people at its head\u00adquar\u00adters in Holz\u00adger\u00adlin\u00adgen (Baden-W\u00fcrt\u00adtem\u00adberg), at a plant in Bann\u00adwil (Switz\u00ader\u00adland) and at 13 service loca\u00adti\u00adons in Germany, Switz\u00ader\u00adland and Italy. The company gene\u00adra\u00adtes around 30 percent of its sales in the service business.<\/p>\n

Kraft & Bauer\u2019s systems are used in machi\u00adnes with an increased risk of fire, such as milling, turning and grin\u00adding machi\u00adnes, which operate with parti\u00adcu\u00adlarly high precis\u00adion and speed. Demand for these high-perfor\u00admance machi\u00adnes \u2014 and thus for corre\u00adspon\u00adding fire protec\u00adtion systems \u2014 is incre\u00adasing. In addi\u00adtion, with a broad instal\u00adled base of more than 30,000 systems in Germany alone, Kraft & Bauer bene\u00adfits from a stable service busi\u00adness: the fire protec\u00adtion systems need to be inspec\u00adted and main\u00adtai\u00adned on a regu\u00adlar basis. Kraft & Bauer\u2019s sales acti\u00advi\u00adties are curr\u00adently focu\u00adsed on the DACH region and Italy. Here, busi\u00adness with exis\u00adting custo\u00admers is to be expan\u00added \u2014 both on the basis of rising demand and by retro\u00adfit\u00adting exis\u00adting systems. In addi\u00adtion, new custo\u00admers are to be acqui\u00adred and inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal expan\u00adsion beyond the markets served to date is to be driven forward.<\/p>\n
