This year\u2019s NRW.INVEST Award went to the US online retailer <strong>Amazon<\/strong>, the British systems house <strong>Comput\u00ada\u00adcen\u00adter<\/strong>, the Japa\u00adnese high-tech company<strong> Shimadzu<\/strong>and the Chinese auto\u00admo\u00adtive supplier <strong>Yanfeng Auto\u00admo\u00adtive Inte\u00adri\u00adors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal inves\u00adtors are of great importance for our coun\u00adtry. They are at the same time important employ\u00aders, drivers of inno\u00adva\u00adtion and econo\u00admic engi\u00adnes. We honor these important contri\u00adbu\u00adti\u00adons with the presen\u00adta\u00adtion of the NRW.INVEST Award\u201d, explai\u00adned Minis\u00adter Pink\u00adwart. \u201cThis year\u2019s award winners make a special contri\u00adbu\u00adtion to raising the profile of North Rhine-West\u00adpha\u00adlia as a busi\u00adness loca\u00adtion in logi\u00adstics, the auto\u00admo\u00adtive sector and digitization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur award winners come from many diffe\u00adrent count\u00adries and regi\u00adons of the world. They show that NRW can hold its own in the incre\u00adasing compe\u00adti\u00adtion for inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal inves\u00adtors, also thanks to an active sett\u00adle\u00adment policy,\u201d summed up Petra Wass\u00adner, Mana\u00adging Direc\u00adtor of NRW.INVEST. \u201cParti\u00adcu\u00adlarly in the area of future tech\u00adno\u00adlogy such as digi\u00adta\u00adliza\u00adtion and elec\u00adtro\u00admo\u00adbi\u00adlity, we want to convince inves\u00adtors of North Rhine-West\u00adpha\u00adlia\u2019s loca\u00adtio\u00adnal advantages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the number of new sett\u00adle\u00adments and expan\u00adsion invest\u00adments by foreign compa\u00adnies in North Rhine-West\u00adpha\u00adlia rose to 421, crea\u00adting around 9,750 jobs, parti\u00adcu\u00adlarly in the Metro\u00adpole Ruhr and the Aachen and D\u00fcssel\u00addorf regions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The winners of the NRW.INVEST AWARD 2018 at a glance:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Amazon:<\/strong> The US online retailer has massi\u00advely expan\u00added its presence in North Rhine-West\u00adpha\u00adlia in recent years. Follo\u00adwing the start of logi\u00adstics acti\u00advi\u00adties eight years ago in Rhein\u00adberg and Werne, further loca\u00adti\u00adons with diffe\u00adrent func\u00adtions were added in Bochum, Dort\u00admund and Krefeld in 2017. Amazon also opera\u00adtes a rese\u00adarch and deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment center in Aachen. Pionee\u00adring tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies are being worked on there. Further loca\u00adti\u00adons, e.g. M\u00f6nchen\u00adglad\u00adbach, are being plan\u00adned. Amazon employs around 6,500 full-time staff in&nbsp;NRW.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comput\u00ada\u00adcen\u00adter:<\/strong> The British IT service provi\u00adder supplies complete compu\u00adter networks, inclu\u00adding soft\u00adware and hard\u00adware, to compa\u00adnies and public-sector clients and is one of the top-selling systems houses in Germany. Comput\u00ada\u00adcen\u00adter has been loca\u00adted in Kerpen for 25 years, where cons\u00adtruc\u00adtion of a new German head\u00adquar\u00adters began last year with an invest\u00adment of 40 million euros. The company is also leasing an addi\u00adtio\u00adnal 29,000 square meters in a logi\u00adstics center to expand its confi\u00adgu\u00adra\u00adtion and logi\u00adstics capacities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shimadzu<\/strong>: The Japa\u00adnese company is the worl\u00add\u2019s leading deve\u00adlo\u00adper and supplier of analy\u00adti\u00adcal instru\u00adments, labo\u00adra\u00adtory tech\u00adno\u00adlogy and medi\u00adcal devices. Foun\u00added in 1875, it moved to D\u00fcssel\u00addorf in 1968 and has had its Euro\u00adpean head\u00adquar\u00adters in Duis\u00adburg since 1987. The Shimadzu Euro\u00adpean Inno\u00adva\u00adtion Center was opened there last year: an inno\u00adva\u00adtive think tank that combi\u00adnes acade\u00admic-scien\u00adti\u00adfic and tech\u00adni\u00adcal know-how and deve\u00adlops inno\u00adva\u00adtive solu\u00adti\u00adons speci\u00adfi\u00adcally for custo\u00admers. Shimadzu employs around 230 people in&nbsp;NRW.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yanfeng Auto\u00admo\u00adtive Inte\u00adri\u00adors<\/strong>: The Chinese auto\u00admo\u00adtive supplier specia\u00adli\u00adzes in vehicle inte\u00adri\u00adors and is a global leader in this segment. The product spec\u00adtrum ranges from center conso\u00adles to door panels and instru\u00adment panels to intel\u00adli\u00adgent surfaces. Since the foun\u00adding of Yanfeng Auto\u00admo\u00adtive Inte\u00adri\u00adors in 2015, it has had its Euro\u00adpean head\u00adquar\u00adters with around 600 employees in Neuss, from where 15 other loca\u00adti\u00adons in Europe are mana\u00adged. In Febru\u00adary 2018, the company opened a new inno\u00adva\u00adtion center.
