In a <strong>manage\u00adment buy-out<\/strong> (MBO), DBAG ECF, which is mana\u00adged by DBAG, will acquire around 51 percent of the shares in Sj\u00f8lund from the current sole owner and CEO S\u00f8ren Ravn Jensen.<\/p>\n<p>DBAG will invest up to 4.5 million euros from its balance sheet for its co-invest\u00adment; in future, it will account for around 21 percent of the shares in Sj\u00f8lund. The remai\u00adning appro\u00adxi\u00adm\u00adately 49 percent of the shares will in future be held by S\u00f8ren Ravn Jensen, who will conti\u00adnue to serve as CEO of the company, and other members of the manage\u00adment team. The purchase agree\u00adment was signed at the end of Decem\u00adber and is expec\u00adted to be comple\u00adted in Janu\u00adary 2018. The parties have agreed not to disc\u00adlose the purchase price.<\/p>\n<p>Sj\u00f8lund is the first invest\u00adment since the start of the first new invest\u00adment period of the DBAG ECF, or DBAG ECF I, in June 2017. The manage\u00adment buyout is also the second majo\u00adrity invest\u00adment by the fund, which has also selec\u00adtively provi\u00added funds for MBOs since expan\u00adding its invest\u00adment crite\u00adria in 2016. Previously, the DBAG ECF had exclu\u00adsi\u00advely inves\u00adted in compa\u00adnies on a mino\u00adrity basis in order to promote their growth.<\/p>\n<p>Since the previous sole owner and CEO S\u00f8ren Ravn Jensen joined the company in 1994, Sj\u00f8lund (www.sjoelund.com) has deve\u00adlo\u00adped into one of the largest suppli\u00aders in the niche market for complex compon\u00adents made of bent alumi\u00adnum and steel. At the company\u2019s head\u00adquar\u00adters in Sj\u00f8lund, Denmark, and at a produc\u00adtion site in China, around 110 employees manu\u00adfac\u00adture compon\u00adents that account for only a small propor\u00adtion of their custo\u00admers\u2019 mate\u00adrial costs, but are nevert\u00adhel\u00adess complex in many cases and often safety-rele\u00advant. These compon\u00adents are always manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adred accor\u00adding to the speci\u00adfic requi\u00adre\u00adments of the respec\u00adtive custo\u00admer and distri\u00adbu\u00adted globally \u2014 also via a third loca\u00adtion in the USA. Sj\u00f8lund also advi\u00adses its custo\u00admers on adap\u00adting products to the manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adring process (\u201cDesign for Manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adring\u201d). In this way, the company has built up stable custo\u00admer rela\u00adti\u00adonships and a strong market posi\u00adtion. It gene\u00adra\u00adted a good half of its <strong>total sales of around 31 million euros<\/strong> in the wind power indus\u00adtry in fiscal year 2016\/2017 (Septem\u00adber 30), mainly with compon\u00adents for the nacel\u00adles of wind turbi\u00adnes. In the rail segment, Sj\u00f8lund supplies train manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adr\u00aders with struc\u00adtu\u00adral profiles and compon\u00adents for exte\u00adrior clad\u00adding, for exam\u00adple for the front of the rail\u00adcar, the window frames or the boar\u00adding&nbsp;area.<\/p>\n<p>Sj\u00f8lun\u00add\u2019s sales markets, some of which are not very cycli\u00adcal, are expec\u00adted to grow signi\u00adfi\u00adcantly in the coming years. Drivers of this deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment are mega\u00adtrends such as the use of rene\u00adwa\u00adble ener\u00adgies, global popu\u00adla\u00adtion growth and incre\u00adasing urba\u00adniza\u00adtion. On this basis, Sj\u00f8lund is to conti\u00adnue to grow and expand inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnally \u2014 orga\u00adni\u00adcally and through acqui\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adons: Busi\u00adness with exis\u00adting custo\u00admers in growth markets such as China and the USA is to be expan\u00added; compon\u00adents for wind turbi\u00adnes are also to be manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adred at the Chinese produc\u00adtion site in the future. German custo\u00admers curr\u00adently account for around 35 percent of Sj\u00f8lun\u00add\u2019s sales. Another start\u00ading point for the stra\u00adte\u00adgic deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment of the company is the realignment of its sales acti\u00advi\u00adties.
